Furman H. Finklea was born on October 29, 1914 in Hyman, Florence County, South Carolina. He was the son of Furman Henry Arnaud Finklea and Eulalia Cox Finklea. Furman served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a Private First Class in the 16th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action on August 1, 1944 in France at the age of 29 and is now buried in Beulah Cemetery, Hyman, Florence County, South Carolina, USA.
