Warren J. Kawell was born on January 10, 1921. He was the son of Anton and Lelia Kawell. Warren served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a Technician Fifth Grade in the 1st Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action on September 3, 1944 in France at the age of 23 and is now buried in Memorial Park Cemetery and Crematorium, Skokie, Cook County, Illinois, USA. His name is commemorated on the First Infantry monument in Mons, Belgium and ranked as a Corporal.
