Owen John Jones, 27 years of age, was born on November 27, 1917 in Oneonta, Otsego County, New York and attended school there. He entered the U.S. Army in 1941, and was eventually assigned to the 187th Engineer Combat Battalion in the European Theater of Operations. 1st Lt. Jones was one of four men killed by a tank mine in Waldfeucht, Germany on February 22 of 1945. He is now buried in the Glenwood Cemetery, Oneonta, Otsego County, New York, USA.
