Jack Warren Erickson was born on January 18, 1919 in Muskegon, Muskegon County, Michigan. He was the son of Adolph Erickson and Jessie May DeWitt Erickson. Jack served in the Army Air Corps from 1941 to 1945. He was a P-61 Black Widow Night Fighter pilot, served in North Africa, Italy, China and Burma where he lost his life on April 23, 1945. He is now buried in the Zachary Taylor National Cemetery, Louisville, Jefferson County, Kentucky, USA.

Jac was one of over 2000 Americans who lost their lives defending China from their Japanese invaders from 1941-1945. He is commemorated on the The Monument to the Aviation Martyrs in the War of Resistance Against Japan in Nanjing, China.
