Francis X. Markley was born in 1915. He served in the US Air Corps as a Technical Sergeant during World War II. Francis died in 1943 in the China-Burma-India theater and is now buried in the Saint Nicholas Cemetery, Crates, Clarion County, Pennsylvania, USA. He was one of over 2000 Americans who lost their lives defending China from their Japanese invaders from 1941-1945. He is commemorated on the The Monument to the Aviation Martyrs in the War of Resistance Against Japan in Nanjing, China and ranked as a Staff Sergeant.
