William J. Frazer was born on November 18, 1897. He served in D Company, 42nd (Rainbow) Division as a Sergeant during World War I. In the Battle of Croix Rouge Farm on July 26, 1918, he was hit twice by German machine-gun fire. He lay on the no-man’s land of the battlefield for 17 hours before being picked up out of a shell hole and evacuated. William died on January 17, 1974 at the age of 76 and is now buried in the Magnolia Cemetery, Greenville, Butler County, Alabama, USA.
