Clara Huston Miller was born on November, 2, 1859, the daughter of Charles Huston, the President of Lukens Steel in Coatesville, Pennsylvania. She married the banker Benjamin Miller and at the start of the First World War, the Millers moved to Europe to provide assistance. Benjamin Miller died in Switzerland in 1914 and Clara moved to Italy where she ran a US assistance program to Italian war orphans in Rome, Italy from 1915 to 1925. Clara Huston Miller died in Switzerland in 1929.
