Harold Arthur Thacker was born on September 14, 1921 in Torrance, Los Angeles County, California. He was the son of Lloyd Arnold Thacker and Alice Mae Cummins Thacker. Harold served in the 9th Combat Cargo Squadron, 3rd Combat Cargo Group as a Second Lieutenant during World War II. He was Killed in Action on August 15, 1945 in Myanmar at the age of 23 and is now buried in the Cape County Memorial Park Cemetery, Cape Girardeau, Cape Girardeau County, Missouri, USA.

2Lt Thacker was one of over 2000 Americans who lost their lives defending China from their Japanese invaders from 1941-1945. He is commemorated on the The Monument to the Aviation Martyrs in the War of Resistance Against Japan in Nanjing, China.
