On April 17, 1944, the 379th returned to the Marienbad airfield, Czech Republic, destroying five twin-engine aircraft and damaging seven more; an airborne Bf 108 fell to Lt. Ted Blair. The squadron then went on to conduct an armed recce that netted two locomotives and 32 trucks, including 20 fuel trucks and trailers, but Lt. Joseph D. Weedn was forced down by engine trouble near Hammelburg, Germany. Weedn was able to evade and return to the group.
