Thomas George “Tom” Katsilometes was born on February 16, 1916. He served in the 67th Armored Regiment, 2nd Armored Division, as a Second Lieutenant during World War II. According to the Regimental history, 2Lt Katsilometes and two infantry officers were KIA by enemy artillery near Rothem, Holland (NE of Maastricht). His platoon, along with an infantry unit, were assigned to secure the high ground near the historic Villa Kruisdonk. The attack was successful, but not without cost. 2Lt Katsilometes is now buried in the Mountain View Cemetery, Pocatello, Bannock County, Idaho, USA.
