Martin Edward Adams was born on April 22, 1919, in New York. He resided in Putnam County, New York prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army on February 5, 1942, in New York City, New York. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed in construction and also as Single, without dependents.

Martin served as a First Lieutenant and Pilot on P-47D #42-28449 in the 506th Fighter Squadron, 404th Fighter Group during World War II. On August 27, 1944, 1Lt Adams took off from A-5 'Chipelle' airfield in Cartigny-L'Epinay, France, on a mission to Coulommiers aerodrome. At 2:15 PM, he was shot down in a dogfight by a fighter and crashed towards Lizy-Sur-Ourcq. 1Lt Adams was killed in the crash. He is now buried in the Cold Spring Cemetery, Cold Spring, Putnam County, New York, USA.
