Grover C. Dummit was born on March 29, 1896. He was the son of E. G. and Ollie Dummit.

Grover served in Company K, 153rd Infantry Regiment, 39th Infantry Division, as a Private during World War I. He was one of the 171 American servicemen who trained at the Third Aviation Instruction Center in France and died between 1917-1919. Pvt Dummit died on September 13, 1918, and is now buried in the Dummitt Cemetery, Kehoe, Greenup County, Kentucky, USA.
