Albert Frank Gilmore was born on May 31, 1895, in Haverhill, Massachusetts. He was the son of Frank A. Gilmore and Marion Gatchell Gilmore.

Albert enlisted as Cadet in the US Aviation and trained in Tours, St. Maixent, Voves, Avord, and Issoudun. He was commissioned as Second Lieutenant. 2Lt Gilmore died of pneumonia at the 3rd Aviation Instruction Center Hospital on the morning of October 3, 1918. He had just started his flying at this center and was progressing nicely when he contracted his fatal illness. 2Lt Gilmore is now buried in the Glenside Cemetery, Winthrop, Kennebec County, Maine, USA.
