Cyrus Earle Graham was born on April 17, 1894, in Texas. He was the son of Cyrus Calhoun Graham and Belle Wallace Ransom.

Cyrus Earle graduated from Allen Academy in Bryan and then entered the Agricultural and Mechanical College of Texas. While at Texas A&M, he served in the Ross Volunteers and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1916. Soon after graduation, he volunteered for service in the Army Air Corps. He received his certificate of graduation from the United States School of Military Aeronautics on October 13, 1917, and was promoted to the rank of First Lieutenant on May 18, 1918.

He was killed in a plane crash in France on November 9, 1918, just two days before the armistice was signed, and he was buried in France on November 1918. His family was not notified of his death until November 23. Several years later, his remains were returned to Bryan and buried with full military honors in the Bryan City Cemetery, Texas. When Post 159 of the American Legion was formed after World War I, the charter members voted to name the post in honor of Cyrus Earle Graham.
