Edward Claypool Gwynne was born on November 21, 1898, in Paris, France. He entered military service in the District of Columbia and served in the 3rd Aviation Instruction Center as a Second Lieutenant during World War I. 2Lt Gwynne was killed in an airplane in France on October 19, 1918. He is now buried in the Suresnes American Cemetery, Suresnes, France. He was one of the 171 American servicemen who trained at the Third Aviation Instruction Center in France and died between 1917-1919.
