Raymond Allo Cole was born on November 1, 1922, in Andover, Merrimack County, New Hampshire. He resided in Grafton County, New Hampshire, prior to the war.

Raymond enlisted in the Army on December 15, 1942, in Manchester, New Hampshire. He was noted as being employed in a machine shop and also as Single, without dependents. He served in Company F, 2nd Ranger Battalion, as a Private First Class during World War II. He was Killed in Action on June 6, 1944, at the age of 21, at Pointe du Hoc, during the American assault on Omaha and Utah beaches in France. PFC Cole is now buried in the Normandy American Cemetery, Colleville-Sur-Mer, France.
