Joseph V. Daniels was born on March 25, 1924, in Missouri. He resided in Saint Louis, Missouri, before the war., He enlisted in the Army on February 25, 1943, at Jefferson Barracks, Missouri. He was noted as being employed as a Baker and also as a Single, without dependents.

Joseph served in Company A, 2nd Ranger Battalion, as a Private First Class during World War II. He was Killed in Action on June 6, 1944, at the age of 20, in Vierville-sur-Mer, during the American assault on Omaha beach in France. PFC Daniels was originally interred in the Jefferson Barracks Cemetery in Missouri, however, his family had his remains moved to another cemetery. It is unknown at this time where he is now interred.
