Wayne Dee Goad was born on March 30, 1923, in Moody, Texas. He was the son of Ralph Andrew Goad and Lucy Ottie (nee Ellis) Goad.

Wayne had four years of high school and had a civil occupation as a Semiskilled compositor and typesetter, and was married upon enlistment. He enlisted in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, on April 7, 1943. He served in Company C, 2nd Ranger Battalion, as a Private First Class during World War II. He was Killed in Action on June 6, 1944, at the age of 21, at Pointe de la Percée, during the American assault on Omaha beach in France. PFC Goad is now buried in the Riverside Cemetery, Mangum, Greer County, Oklahoma, USA.
