Jacob Jackson Hill was born on December 7, 1916, in Cleveland, Cuyahoga County, Ohio. He was the son of Harry Hill and Polly Hill.

Jacob served in Company F, 2nd Ranger Battalion, as a First Lieutenant during World War II. He was Killed in Action on June 6, 1944, at the age of 27, at Pointe du Hoc, during the American assault on Omaha and Utah beaches in France. 1Lt Hill is now buried in the Lansing Cemetery, Cleveland, Cuyahoga County, Ohio, USA.
