John Robert Allen was born on March 31, 1920. He was the son of James R. Allen and Ana L. "Amy" Rhodes Allen. He served in HQ Company, 1st Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division, as a Second Lieutenant during World War II. He was Killed in Action on July 22, 1944, during the Battle for Guam.
