William "Billy" Mallory was born on April 12, 1923, in Lancaster, Fairfield County, Ohio. He served in the 787th Bomber Squadron, 466th Bomber Group, Heavy, as a Sergeant and Tail Gunner on the B-24 #42-95084 “Bird Dog” during World War II. He was Killed in Action on July 13, 1944, when his aircraft crashed in the village of Tunstall, in the parish of Halvergate, England.
