William Clyde Myers was born on September 7, 1918, in Emmitsburg, Frederick County, Maryland. He was the son of Charles Edward Myers and Estella Agnes "Stella" Aumen Myers. He was the husband of Ruth A. Damuth Slonaker.

William served in the 787th Bomber Squadron, 466th Bomber Group, Heavy, as a Sergeant and Nose Gunner on the B-24 #42-95084 “Bird Dog” during World War II. He was Killed in Action on July 13, 1944, when his aircraft crashed in the village of Tunstall, in the parish of Halvergate, England.
