John Joseph Murphy was born on June 21, 1925. He was the son of Thomas and Isabella Murphy, of Detroit, Michigan.
John served in the 419 (Moose) Squadron of the Royal Canadian Air Force as a Flight Sergeant during World War II. He was Killed in Action on November 24, 1944, when his Lancaster aircraft #KB 875 was returning from a cross-country flight and caught fire in midair. It crashed near the bombing range at Bradbury, Durham County, England.
