David Leonard Conway was born on March 30, 1917, in Lynn, Essex County, Massachusetts. He was the son of Elizabeth Boner Conway and Denis Conway. He worked in a machine shop before enlisting in the service on February 15, 1943. He served in Company C, 1st Battalion, 38th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division, as a Corporal and Combat Infantry Squad Leader during World War II.
Cpl Conway was Killed in Action on April 14, 1945, during the Battle of Weißenfels in Germany. He is now buried in the Netherlands American Cemetery and Memorial, Margraten, Eijsden-Margraten Municipality, Limburg, Netherlands.
