Chaplain Bell was the son of Rev. and Mrs. Albert Bell, East Maple St.. York, Pa. He graduated from the York High School and the Gettysburg Theological Seminary. Before entering the army he was in charge of a Lutheran charge at Sparrow's Point. Md. Chaplain Bell died in France at the front of pneumonia. He was the only army Chaplain from York to lose his life in the World War.
From Find a Grave: Albert D. Bell served as a United States Army Chaplain during World War I. He served with the rank of 1st Lieutenant. He served with the 310th U.S. Infantry, 79th Infantry Division. He was originally from Newton, Iowa. He died of bronchial pneumonia at Base Hospital #45, Toul, France.
