Sgt Edwin R. Ashworth, radio operator of the B-24 42-7581 “Devil Dream”, took off from Station 125, Bungay, UK on a bombing mission to La Rochelle. The plane was evacuated at 1210, the crew bailing out at 11000 feet. Ashworth’s parachute failed to open.
