John J. Hobel was born on July 28, 1918 in Michigan. He was the son of Joseph James Hobel and Frances Hobel. John entered the military on Jan 23, 1942 while residing in Wyandotte, Wayne, Michigan. He was the Squad Leader in Company B, 23rd Armored Infantry Battalion, 7th Armored Division. He was Killed in Action on August 15, 1944 at the age of 26, when his column was ambushed in Marboue, France. He is now buried in the Michigan Memorial Park, Flat Rock, Wayne County, Michigan, USA.
