Nathan H. Sanford was born on September 15, 1912 in Mississippi. He was inducted at Camp Shelby and trained at Camp Polk, La., and Ft. Benning, Ga. He had been in the service since February, 1942, and had been overseas since April, 1944. Nathan served in the 23rd Armored Infantry Battalion, 7th Armored Division as a Private First Class during World War II. He was Killed in Action on August 15, 1944 at the age of 31 when his column was ambushed in Marboue, France. He is now buried in the Runnelstown First Baptist Church Cemetery, Runnelstown, Perry County, Mississippi, USA.
