Benjamin Lee “Bennie” Sutton was born on August 4, 1915 in Stapleton, Jefferson County, Georgia. He was the son of George H. Sutton and Jennie Way Sutton. Bennie served in the 23rd Armored Infantry Battalion, 7th Armored Division as a Private during World War II. He was Killed in Action on August 15, 1944 at the age of 29 when his column was ambushed in Marboue, France. He is now buried in the Brittany American Cemetery, Montjoie Saint Martin, France.
