Roy F. Cooper was born on May 16, 1924. He served in the 134th Infantry Regiment, 35th Infantry Division as a Staff Sergeant during World War II. He was killed in the Battle of the Bulge with eleven other men in his company as they struggled forward in deep snow under heavy and accurate German gunfire during the liberation of Weiswampach in northern Luxembourg. He is now buried in the Woodland Cemetery, Chase City, Mecklenburg County, Virginia, USA at the age of 20.
