Melvin E. Scott was born on November 9, 1918. He served in the 134th Infantry Regiment, 35th Infantry Division as a Private First Class during World War II. Melvin was killed in the Battle of the Bulge with eleven other men in his company as they struggled forward in deep snow under heavy and accurate German gunfire during the liberation of Weiswampach in northern Luxembourg. He is now buried in the Maple Grove Cemetery, Clay City, Clay County, Indiana, USA at the age of 26.
