Rosendo Cardenas was born on January 13, 1919 in Gonzales, Texas. He was the son of Gaspar Cardenas and Petra Garcia Cardenas. Rosendo enlisted in Houston, Harris County, Texas, on July 14, 1941. He resided in Fort Bend County, Texas at the time of his enlistment and listed his occupation as farm hand. He served in the 411th Infantry Regiment, 103rd Infantry Division as a Private First Class during World War II. PFC Cardenas was Killed in Action on November 22, 1944 at the age of 25 in the battle for Saulcy-sur-Meurthe, France and is now buried in the Epinal American Cemetery, Dinozé, France.
