"Charles E. Fairweather was the son of William H. Fairweather. He was born on April 4, 1920.

Entered the military on Nov. 25, 1940 in the Illinois National Guard.

Later assigned to 87th Cavalry Reconnaissance Squadron (Mechanized) 7th Armored Division. Re-Assigned to Co. D, 17th Tank Battalion, 7th Armored Division.

He saraficed his life in a bitter battle near Rambouillet, France.

He died on August 18, 1944 and is now buried at Normandy American Cemetery and Memorial, Colleville-sur-Mer, Departement du Calvados, Basse-Normandie, France."
