Charles R. “Bud” McCurry was born on September 17, 1924. McCurry was a lifelong resident of Manor, PA and graduate from Greensburg High school. He was a member of First Evangelical and Reformed church in Manor. Enlisting in the Air Force on April 5, 1943, he was a P-51 pilot and a member of the 354th Fighter Squadron of the Eighth Air Force. He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Edna P. Harris, Ligonier, and a brother, Hollie E. McCurry, Manor.

On September 11, 1944, he participated in an escort mission to the Marburg Refineries. At Kassel, 25 fighters attacked the bombers. Unfortunately, Lieutenant Mc Curry was killed in command of his P-51B (43-6943) WR "Patricia", shot down while strafing Marburg aerodrome. He managed to parachute but it did not open properly and he was killed by the landing.

2Lt is now buried in Penn Lincoln Memorial Park, North Huntingdon Township, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, USA.
