Comments:

1st Lt Thomas J. Taylor was born on 1922 in Massachusetts. He was the son of Samuel and Sarah. He had one brother and three sisters. 1Lt was stationed in Steeple, Morden, England. After safely escorting a bomber to Germany, he turned to return to England. He flew into a cloud and none of his comrades saw his plane again. Later it was found out that he had crashed. His body was preserved by a German family and returned to the Americans.

Statement from 1st lt. Robert M. Watkins:
"On Feb. 9, I was flying Purple 3. Lt. Taylor was flying my wing. We had swept up through enemy territory for a time longer than usual. After a short strafing do. We started out. Due to the fact that I was so low on gas I decided to take a look at the weather through ahead. It was mostly haze with light rifts of clouds, so I went through. This was about 13:45 when I went into the weather. I came out on the other side minus Lt. Taylor. I instantly tried getting him on our own channel. At no reply I tried all other channels with no results. Last seen north east of Giessen."
