Comments:

Born 3 Dec 1889 to Sam and Lydia Walker in Belton, Texas. West Point class of 1912, commissioned into the Infantry. Served as a company commander and battalion commander in the 5th Division in WWI. Commanded the 36th Infantry Regiment, the Third Armored Division, tne IV Corps, and finally the XX Corps. After the war he commanded the 8th Service Command, the 6th Service Command, the Fifth Army, and the Eighth Army at the start of the Korean War. He was killed in a traffic accident in South Korea on 23 Dec 1950 when his command jeep collided with a weapons carrier headed in the other direction that veered into his lane.
