When Cecil F Swats was born in April 1897 in Bath, Virginia, his father, Charles, was 33 and his mother, Margaret, was 28. He had five brothers and two sisters. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Corporal in Company L, 16th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action on October 4, 1918 and is now buried in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Arlington County, Virginia, USA. His name is inscribed on the Buzancy monument as CPL C F SWATT CO L.
