When Paul Pazurek was born on January 26, 1899, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, his father, Peter, was 31 and his mother, Anna, was 20. He had three brothers and one sister. He entered the military service in Wisconsin. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Private in Company H, 16th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action on July 21, 1918 and is now buried in Oise-Aisne American Cemetery, Seringes-et- Nesles, France. His name is inscribed on the Buzancy monument as PVT F A PAZUREK.

Other Story from Lukas Eswein of East Junior High School : "Our Soldiers entered World War I because the Germans were threatening to take over all of Europe and we had to stop them. This was a big surprise in their lives. They had to say goodbye to there families. But when you sign up for the army that is what you are committing to We were on the Allies Side. We were going to stay out of it, but then Germany sunk all of the Allies ships. So then we had to get involved.

In Wood County, the call to the arms was heard by many willing young men to put their lives in danger for us by fighting for us. Corp. Paul Pazurek, brother of Priv. Peter Pazurek and Andrew Pazurek, of Grand Rapids, was one of these young men. He was only 19 years old. He lived with his parents until he enlisted in the Army. He went to the Mexican Border on July 3rd, 1916.

The battlefields were a bad place to be because that's where they threw bombs at you and you were out in the open. Field hospitals had to be hectic from people going in there with gun shot wounds or getting sick with diseases. Paul's duties were fighting in the war. He was in the trenches, and in action. He was in the regular army duties, and he was good at It too.

Paul Pazurek was bom in Minneapolis, Minnesota on January 25th, 1899. He and his parents lived in Saratoga, Wood County. Paul was liked by all who knew him, and he was a good student, he was on honor role at Lincoln High School in Wisconsin Rapids, WI. He was a good son, brother, and friend. He enlisted in the army on July 3rd, 1916. Then on December 10th, 1917 he was deployed to France.

He must have had a lot of courage to go into this war. There is know way that I would go to war. Paul Pazurek was born a hero, and died a hero. He probably died happily, knowing that he died fighting for other family that needed help and even his own family. He also helped a country out. His friends and family must have been devastated when they herd about his death."
