When Clarence Wellington Borror was born on October 29, 1894, in Winchester, Indiana, his father, Isaac, was 32 and his mother, Dorothy, was 30. He had two brothers and five sisters. He was a farmer before enlisting and entered the service on June 5, 1917 in Winchester. He was assigned to Company G, 157th Infantry and was transferred to Camp Shelby, Miss. He embarked overseas on June 11, 1918 and was assigned in Machine Gun Company, 16th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action but declared "Missing" on July 22, 1918 and is memorialized on Tablets of the Missing, Aisne-Marne American Cemetery, Belleau, France.
