The site is located in the town of Gaggio Montano at the base of the lighthouse (Faro di Gaggio Montano--Lighthouse of the Fallen of the Mountains) which sits upon a rock looking out above the town. The site is located at the start of a walking trail to the Faro. Gaggio Montano a comune (municipality) in the Metropolitan City of Bologna in the Italian region Emilia-Romagna, located about 45 kilometers (28 mi) southwest of Bologna.
