Back to Search Result

Description:

The site contains a memorial to the Combined Operations Command.

Address:

Croxall Road , WS13 8QX , Alrewas , Staffordshire , England , UK

The Arboretum is situated just south of Alrewas on approximately 150 acres (61 ha; 0.23 sq mi) of old gravel workings, 5 miles (8.0 km) north of Lichfield, Staffordshire. It is adjacent to the confluence of the River Tame with the River Trent, and directly neighbouring Croxall Lakes. It is at the western end of the National Forest, just off the A38 road. The memorial gardens are grouped into four ‘zones’ (each afforded a colour –  purple, orange, green and blue – to helpguide visitors). The gardens border upon artificial lakes created by gravel extraction and the River Trent to the north. To the east is the River Tame, beyond which lies the National Forest.
