Description:

The site includes one memorial remembering the gratitude of New Zealand for the 2nd Marine Division and US Navy forces which were stationed there before the Invasion of Tarawa in 1943.

The site is located in a public park in he city of enter of Betio which is on the island of South Tarawa in the country of Kiribati (formerly the Gilbert Islands). The site sites in attached to a seawall just west of the public park amidst WW2 ruins to include an anti-aircraft gun; on the north beachside of the island.
