In the churchyard is the isolated burial of Warrant Officer Class II Wilfred Phelps “Bill” Comrie, an American aviator who served in the Royal Canadian Air Force during World War II.

The village of Barmby-on-the-Moor is in the East Riding, 14 miles southeast of York. The parish church of St. Catherine is on the main village road, on the south side of which two entrances lead to the church in the center and the churchyard beyond. The War Graves Plot is in the southwest area of the churchyard. Almost all of the burials are for the 1939-1945 War. A Cross of Sacrifice is erected in the churchyard.
