A pillar of stone bearing three white plaques with engravings on one of its sides. One of these plaques commemorated Lt McGowan's sacrifice. Lt McGowan served with the 391st Fighter Squadron, 366th Fighter Group, 9th U.S. Air Force and cfrashed near here on D-Day, June 6, 1944.  He was listed as MIA until 2018 when he was recovered.  He was buried in 2022 in the Normandy American Cemetery and Memorial at Plot J Row 21 Grave 35.
