On the grounds of the former NAS Moutchic.

An obelisk about 3 meters high surrounded by 4 granite blocks with wrought iron anchors at each corner linked with an iron chain. The name of nine US Naval aviators are commemorated on the monument. The text is engraved into the obelisk, and the names are also reproduced on a plastic plaque on the base. Most died while in training; three flying over the North Sea who were all members of the first group of "First Yale Unit"; Yale students who learned to fly at their own expense prior to the U.S. entry into the World War.
