On the side of the monument that faces the beach.
Plaque
This bronze plaque, put up by the unit's veterans, commemorates the members of the 6th Naval Beach Battalion who gave their lives on Omaha Beach. A part of the 5th Engineer Special Brigade on D-Day, the battalion was tasked with the mission of signaling the landing crafts ashore and and getting casualties off the beach. They not only completed this mission, but aided in the missions of other units.
