A rough rose granite fieldstone with one polished face that contains French text engraving with gold leaf. 

The memorial remember the libation of the town by the 276th Infantry Regiment of the 70th Infantry "Trailbalzers" Division of the February 18, 1945.

A nearby street is named for one of the Battalion Commanders in the Regiment, Major (Retired General) Theodore C. Mataxis.
