The major feature of the small memorial park at the intersection of the N-10 and the D-18 south of town. Monument A tall granite stele with a stone terrace in front, commemorating the campaign for the liberation of Paris by the allies, and put up by the VFW, as indicated on a plaque on the front. Text in French and English.
Monument Text:
From this region the allied forces launched their attack to liberate Paris in August 1944. The Seine was crossed to the north near Mantes and to the south near Fontainebleu.
This monument was erected by the Veterans of Foreign War of the United States with conttibutions from American friends of France. The inauguration was held on 27 June 1971 in presence of: Alain Pohar, President of the Senate; Maurice Schumann, Minister of Foreign Affairs; Colonel Leon Turrou, President of the VFW US; Guy de la Vasselais, Senator and Vice President of the General Counsel and mayor of St Symphorien.
