Memory of “11 September” Memorial

On the west side of the large square, just off the roadway.
Steel World Trade Center fragment inserted into lava stone from Vesuvius about 10 feet high which honors victims and symbolizes alliance between the U.S. and Italy.
From the 9/11 Memorial Registry: a memorial featuring a piece of twisted steel from the World Trade Center honors the victims of the 9/11 attacks. The steel stands upright on a block of lava stone from Mount Vesuvius. “11 Settembre” is engraved in the stone on multiple sides. Two flagpoles carrying an Italian and American flag flank the memorial. A plaque lies in front of the memorial embedded into the ground.
The monument was dedicated in September 2011.
