Attached on the outside wall of the building, on the east side of the road.


Plaque A white rectangular plaque inscribed in French and English text, incised in blue lettering. Printed in colors, the Gardanne coat of arms, the French flag, the American flag, and the 3rd Infantry Division insignia are the images on the top of the plaque followed by the commemoration message. The city of Gardanne was liberated by the 3rd U.S. Infantry Division on August 21, 1944 from Nazi forces. The plaque was inaugurated on August 20, 2018.

A NOS LIBÉRATEURS, RESISTANTS ET AMÉRICAINS

 

Cette plaque commémore la libération de la ville de Gardanne de l'autorité nazie

et la restauration du conseil municipal par les soldats de la 3ème division

d'infanterie des États-Unis d'Amérique du Nord « Le Roc de la Marne »

pendant l'operation "Dragoon"

le 21 août 1944.

Elle a ètè inaugurée par Roger Meï, meire de la ville de Gardanne et la capitaine

Monike Stoy, deleguée de la 3ème division d'infanterie des États-unis d'Amerique

du nord « La Roc de la Marne »

le 20 août 2018.

 

This plaque commemorates the liberation of the city of Gardanne of the nazi rule

and the restoration of the city council by the soldiers of the 3rd US Infantry

division "rock of the Marne" during operation "Dragoon"

on august 21nd, 1944.

It was inaugurated by Roger Meï, mayor of the city of Gardanne and captain

Monika Stoy, delegate of the 3rd US infantry division,

on august 20nd, 2018.
